Founders Letter

I am Carla Musil, the founder of Home Sweet Home. I launched the company in 2012 as an in-home care agency dedicated to providing compassionate support for individuals of all ages and situations, including hospice, companion care, Parkinson’s, developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s, fall prevention, and more. This is the story of how Home Sweet Home began.

Before I started Home Sweet Home, I worked in long-term care for years as a case manager. I began by working with individuals with developmental disabilities at Northern Pines community programs. From there, I worked for Barron County Health and Human Services, focusing on assisting the elderly and disabled in long-term care. My role involved conducting home visits, developing care plans, and implementing services tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual.

During my years in the field, it became evident to me how important it was for people to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. Clients often expressed their desire to age in place, sharing stories of the significance their homes held in their lives. Their simple request was for assistance in maintaining their independence and quality of life.

Despite my efforts to find suitable care options, including 24/7 support, I encountered challenges. It was clear that there was a gap in services available to support individuals who wished to remain in their homes full-time. Determined to address this need, I envisioned creating an agency that could provide comprehensive, personalized care to meet these requirements.

One day, a friend reached out to me with a plea for help, expressing her reluctance to place her mother in a nursing home. That moment served as a catalyst, prompting me to take action. I founded Home Sweet Home, driven by a passion for helping others and a commitment to providing the best possible care for those facing various health conditions and challenges.

The mission of Home Sweet Home, “Your home, your way, your day,” reflects our dedication to empowering individuals to maintain control over their lives despite the limitations imposed by their conditions. Whether it’s assisting with daily tasks, offering companionship, or providing specialized care for specific conditions like Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s, our goal is to enhance the quality of life for each person we serve.

Over the years, I’ve witnessed countless moments of joy and gratitude as we’ve helped individuals transition from nursing homes or group settings to their own homes or apartments with tailored care plans. These experiences have been immensely rewarding, affirming the importance of our work in enabling individuals to live life on their own terms.

After twelve years of building Home Sweet Home, I made the decision to retire, intending to spend more time with my grandchildren. However, my joy was reignited when my daughter Jenique and her husband Andrew expressed interest in taking over the agency. Knowing that Home Sweet Home will continue under their capable and compassionate leadership brings me immense pride and comfort.

I am confident that Jenique and Andrew Nymo, with their genuine love, empathy, and dedication to serving others, are the perfect successors to carry forward the mission of Home Sweet Home. I take pride in knowing that all those who entrust us with their care will continue to receive the highest level of support and compassion.

I am proud to announce that Jenique and Andrew Nymo are the new owners of Home Sweet Home, ensuring that our legacy of caring continues for years to come.
